Fernando Alonso's performance in the 2017 running of the 500 was a Tour de Force. This comment has to go down in the annals of Speedway history as one of the ultimate classic shows of confidence and total race craft. I am certain that if his Honda engine had not let go as it did, that he would have been up front and in the mix with 3 laps to go and very well could have won it all in his first try! He was and still is one of the best open wheel drivers on the planet.
